Mmm, e-Stress

Today, I received an e-mail with the subject line "Time is running out...", courtesy of Hofstra. Scrolling down to the e-mails I'd completely ignored last week, I noticed the subject line "Last chance to apply to Rensselaer". Since Gmail gives snippets, I could see that it began, "Dear Andrew, today (11/1) is your FINAL OPPORTUN--".

Do these strike anyone else as absurd things to say to high school seniors?
