Springtime
Mar. 10th, 2006 06:26 pmWow, so it was warm today when I stepped outside after school. Comfortably warm, not merely two or three degrees above freezing. While I was grabbing a snack around 5 this afternoon, the thermometer read 18C/64F. The sky was a beautiful mix of blue and... well, I dunno... blue, I s'pose.
The first few days like this every year rarely fail to put me in a buoyant mood. It's like I'm falling madly in love with sunshine and little puffy clouds or something.
The colors and shades of the view outside right now remind me of summer evenings. I have such wonderful memories of summer evenings, from Watermelon Wednesdays (Hey, Yasha!) to much earlier summers spent in a beautiful (or at least tasty) garden. Most of them are in some way associated with watermelon. This must be one of the reasons I like watermelon so much.
Sadly, the arrival of spring marks the departure of winter. I'm going to miss the winter, for all its glittering beauty. However, when there's still at least half a semester of crap for me to carry on my shoulders, springtime's ability to make even rainy days look blithe is much better for my mental health.
